Exporting Artciles from Google Scholar Using EndNote20

Exporting References from Google Scholar

Exporting References from Google Scholar:

  1. Go to https://scholar.google.com/
  2. Click on the 3 line menu at the top left 
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Under Bibliography Manager, click next to "Show links to import citations into" and select EndNote from the Dropdown box
  5. Click Save
  6. here are two choices to export the citation in Scholar:

    Choice 1:

    When you find an article in Google Scholar, click on the (new) "Import into Endnote" link under the citation.

    Choice 2:

    When you find an article in Google Scholar, click on the quotation marks symbol to Cite and select EndNote at the bottom of the pop-up window. 

    Do this:

  7. Open EndNote 20
  8. Click “Tools”>”Import Filters”>”Open Filters Manager”
  9. From there, scroll down and look for “EndNote Import” - click on it and click “Edit”
  10. Click “Templates” on the left and under Reference Types dropdown click “Journal Article”
  11. Scroll through to look for %J (Journal).  If there, you should be good, but if not, scroll down to the last field and hit enter.
  12. Click in the Field(s) cell for the new line, then click “Insert Field” at the top - select "Journal"
  13. Under “Tag” type in “%J” 
  14. Close and save by clicking the small X at the top right hand corner of the page

Exporting articles from PubMed Using EndNote20

How to directly export references from PubMed/MEDLINE:

  1. Search PubMed/MEDLINE
  2. Select the references you would like to save
  3. Click on the Send To menu next to the UT Links box.
  4. Choose 'Citation Manager' as the destination
  5. Click Create File
  6. The references will be automatically added to your EndNote Library
